Merrifield resins
Merrifield resins are the standard supports for solid phase peptide synthesis and more recently for solid phase organic synthesis. The resins can be used for attachment of carboxylic acids, alcohols, as well as phenols, thiols and amines.

Wang resins
Wang support is the most widely used resin in SPOC. Attachment of carboxylic acid can be achieved with DCC /DMAP or 2,6-dichlrobenzoyl chloride /pyridine. Cleavage of esters involves concentrated TFA or TFA-DCM to provide the corresponding carboxylic acids.
